Migration Ride - Challenging Experience for Fit Riders

.
The Experience of your Lifetime – watch migratory herds from horseback. The wildebeest migration in East Africa alone comprises the largest movement of land animals on the planet.
Located in Tanzania's north there are several routes where animals migrate: Most popular is the Serengeti-Migration inside Serengeti National Park bounderies - this is accessible by jeep only.
Ideal to view from horseback is the so-called Amboseli-Migration (animals migrating in the game corridor between Amboseli in Kenya, Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro) and the Tarangire-Migration (herds migrating between Tarangire and Laka Manyara National Park)
Our Migration Rides take place in private concession areas or Wildlife Management Areas. During our Amboseli-Migration Ride we track herds in the game corridor between Amboseli National Park, Kilimanjaro and Arusha National Park.
We will follow the Tarangire-Migration in the game corridor between Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater - all popular national parks and reserves.
In Tanzania close to 1.2 million wildebeest gather in huge migratory herds in search of quality pastures, some of which pass through our riding area. Let’s go and track them!
Live your dream – join us in this extraordinary experience
General Information:
This is a trail with long riding routes and therefore offers most of the riding, change of landscapes und great game viewing. Depending on season and game movements we might ride along Lake Manyara where the migratory herds from Tarangire pass through on their way to Lake Manyara National Park. Or we will choose the South Amboseli Route over the Ngasurai Plains with migratory herds moving between Amboseli, Kilimanjaro and Arusha National Park.
The South Amboseli area is famous for the herds of elephants and many old bulls can be met here amongst other game. You may encounter elephant herds, sometimes there gather up to about 250 elephants in huge herds. Expect to meet herds of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, eland and other antelope.
The migration rides are challenging and demanding riding itineraries and the requirements on the riders ability is high. This is the ride for motivated riders that will thoroughly enjoy it!

Highlights:
During our rides we may encounter the following animals: zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, elephant, greater and lesser kudu, impala, Grant, Thomson, eland and oryx gazelle, warthog, gerenuk, dikdik, olive baboon, vervet monkey, jackal, occassionally hyena and cheetah, ostrich and a wide variety of bird species. We try to avoid areas with lions.
Nocturnal game (on night game drive): plains animals like zebra, antelope and wildebeest, aardwolf, striped and spotted hyena, bat-eared fox, leopard.
Our Camps: During the classic Migration Ride we will use permanent luxury camp equipped with beds and en suite bathroom with shower. Meals are taken in the mess tent. In order to be flexible to follow the herds we offer a Migration Mobile Ride and use our private mobile camp (dome tents with beds and mattresses). There is also a mess tent and a separate tent with bathroom facilities.
Please note that the itineraries only serve as a guide, all scenarios are dependent on the migration of game. We reserve the right to alter the itineraries in any way. Local weather conditions may also affect game movements.
The Food: All meals are always prepared fresh and most of the ingredients are produced on Makoa-Farm. This includes most vegetables, meat, milk and milk products. There will be fresh home-baked bread on your table every morning. There will also be home-made pastry available in the afternoon. Depending on the schedule, lunch will be served in camp or under a shade tree as a picnic.
Eco-Tourism: We believe in sustainable tourism and our impact on the environment and community is extremely low. A fixed daily amount per person is provided for national organized conservation and the development of local community projects (kindergardens, schools, hospitals and more).
Dates: The annual route of the Tarangire and Amboseli Migrations are, same as the one in Serengeti, dependent on the rains and our scheduled rides are set on dates when migratory herds will most likely wander through the specific area – or better to say when they have done this in previous years! If the rains are not in time or if t doesn’t rain at all in the area, or, if other areas get more rain than usual then the migratory herds will go there. Therefore, all scenarios are dependent on a USUAL year with usual rains and circumstances.
